A Truly Original Gift that will last forever
This all came about when Roger Milton Goodhead was asked to repair a 50 year old Blackamore. Thinking it would be a great present, he searched the antique markets in vain and then decided to make one himself instead. Little did he realise just how popular these charming wooden figures would become. The first few were made for friends and relatives at a family Christmas gathering in 2004, but by the end of the weekend he had received requests to make a further twenty. With continuing interest Roger decided to set up his business Kentchurch Butlers (www.kentchurchbutlers.co.uk), which is now a thriving cottage industry attracting orders from all over the world. Roger was recently even asked to send one of his butlers to Sandringham House and then a month later, Buckingham Palace! It is said that Her Majesty preferred Rogers butlers over Hers as his would not answer back !
Each limited edition figure is hand carved, painted and assembled by Roger himself and comes numbered and dated with its own signed certificate of authentication in the name of the recipient. It is also possible to have a person's initials painted on the plinth for that added personal touch.
These eye-catching and practical tables compliments both modern and traditional interiors and are available in a growing number of styles and colours. Standing 38 inches high and 15 inches wide the tables are the perfect height when relaxing in a chair or sofa. The tray diameter is 8 inches and is large enough to hold a plate, or a bottle of wine and a glass, and even strong enough to hold an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne inside. They can also be used in other ways such as to hold a telephone, a vase of flowers or keys and gloves in your foyer.
The Kentchurch Butler collection now features a range of five different figures comprising the ever-popular butler, a waiter, a maid, a jockey and a guardsman. Each figure is made to order and individually hand painted and glazed with lead free materials. There is a choice of jacket colours of red, blue, black or green.
